This is my own Vegan Turmeric latte recipe that works every time I am in need of an extra boost of energy, or want to get rid the symptoms of a stubborn cold or flu. I use it all year around and it has also helped me very much to alleviate the symptoms of my insulin resistance and inflammation.The main active compound in Turmeric is called Curcumin, which is rich in anti inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Turmeric in big amounts becomes bitter. If you are using powdered turmeric the recommended dosage per day is 1 tsp / 2 - 4 gms per day. Since the powder version has lower absorption than the root it is recommended to activate the turmeric with Black pepper. The reason for this is that Curcumin is poorly absorbed by our bloodstream but Black pepper main active compound Piperine can boost the absorption of certain compounds in the digestion process by 2000%!

1 1/2CupOak Milk
1TablespoonStevia, Xylitol, Coconut sugar or your preferred sweetenerI use Stevia which is good for insulin resistance
Pour the milk in a pot and heat it in medium heat.
Add all the dry ingredients.Starting from the Turmeric powder/root stirring constantly. One you have mixed all the ingredients well, let the milk rise a little bit and turn off the heat. Add the coconut oil and stir.
Strain through tea strainerIf you don't like to have small particles of cinnamon and other spices in your drink you can use a tea strainer. Serve hot in a ceramic mug. Remember that Turmeric stains wood very easily and anything else it gets in contact with.
